Big brother still watching

Police are reminding local drivers that they will still be out in force, despite the wet and cold weather.

This comes after a drink driving blitz in the Rangitikei region over the weekend, which caught 15 drink drivers behind the wheel.

The Central Districts police unit stopped around 2 thousand drivers during the operation, which ran from Thursday to Sunday to coincide with the Winter Mardi Gras at Ohakuni.

Senior Sergeant Nick Dobson says the operation was a timely reminder for people that police will be out and about, no matter what the weather's like
