Massey Rugby

In 2006 MURFC fielded 8 teams in a variety of divisions ranging from Senior A to Women’s. The club currently has over 400 registered members. The 2006 season was a successful year for the club with the Premier Colts team winning their competition and completing the season unbeaten. The Senior A and B teams both placed second in their respective grades. Because of this on field success a large number of players were picked for representative honours last season. The club also continued to run the 10-aside Rugby Max tournament throughout semester one. This competition is aimed directly at first year students, particularly those in halls, as a way to encourage first years to not only play rugby but also to help build relationships with their peers. This year we had approximately 120 players participate in the semester long competition. The 2007 season will again see the club field at least 8 teams and build on the success of last season.
